Steward's Report
All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
Forever Words and Josie Wags were quick to begin. Skipping Bail and Giovanni were slow to begin.
Aston Atlas and Texan Galore collided soon after the start, checking Texan Galore. Masalki and Zipping Brax collided approaching the first turn. Forever Words and Josie Wags collided on the first turn; checking Josie Wags and Giovanni. Zipping Brax and Aston Atlas collided on the first turn. Forever Words eased approaching the home turn. Texan Galore and Skipping Bail collided entering the home straight checking Texan Galore.
Forever Words underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative, Ms H Baxter regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Forever Words was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Baxter pleaded guilty to the charge, Forever Words was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Forever Words - the winner of the event.
