FastTrack Important Announcements

Effective from Monday 5 October 2020, in accordance with the government directive, face coverings will now be required to be fitted face masks, covering the nose and mouth.  Things such as scarves, bandanas and face shields will no longer be permitted.

Face masks will continue to be compulsory for ALL persons attending race meetings at ALL tracks in Victoria, as they have been since 23 July 2020.

  • Any person identified not wearing a face mask at a race meeting or trial shall be provided ONE request / warning to comply.
  • Any person identified NOT wearing a face mask for a second time will be excluded from the race meeting/trial session.   All greyhounds trained by a participant excluded under this provision shall be scratched or prevented from trialling.

PLEASE NOTE – the wearing of face masks is an additional level of protection from Covid-19.   It remains compulsory for all persons attending a race meeting to be the subject of health screening and to comply with social distancing requirements. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTION TO THE ABOVE - DISPOSABLE FACE MASKS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TRACKS. This is about everyone’s health, safety & wellbeing.

The Stewards would like to highlight the requirements of GAR 105 to all participants and the inherent need to advise the Controlling Body (Stewards) of any temporary arrangements when a greyhound leaves a property to be kept at another address or if the greyhound is in the control of another registered person that is “not” the trainer.  These circumstances also often apply for interstate events.

(Of note: Interstate Trainers Coming for Feature Races) - Interstate greyhounds often stay with Victorian based trainers through feature Event series and these temporary stays must be notified to GRV. Interstate Trainers of Greyhounds racing in Victorian must advise in writing of the greyhounds they have, where they will be kennelled, what races they are here for, who is in charge of the greyhounds (name and contact number) and the dates (duration) of the stay.

DUTIES OF PERSON KEEPING GREYHOUNDS - R105 Notification of control and location of greyhound

(1) Except in the circumstances described in sub-rule (6) a greyhound shall at all times be kept at

the registered address of its trainer or owner unless permission to do otherwise is first obtained

from the Controlling Body.

(6) Where a trainer or owner leaves or proposes to leave a greyhound trained by him in the control

of another trainer or attendant (not being a minor) for any period, the following provisions

(a) the trainer or owner shall notify the Controlling Body in writing before doing so that he

proposes to leave a greyhound trained or owned by him in the control of the nominated

person specifying the period during which the greyhound is to be left;

(b) the person in whose control the greyhound is to be left must be currently registered with

the Controlling Body and must have previously consented in writing to being nominated

as the controller of that greyhound during such period; and

(c) the Stewards or the Controlling Body must approve the leaving of the greyhound in the

control of the nominated person before the nominated person can perform any act of a

registered person.

Interstate Participants attending in Victoria must ensure they comply with Victorian Government COVID restrictions and GRV COVID protocols.

Please be advised the Horsham track was graded and top dressed on Wednesday, October 21st
