GREYHOUND INJURY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP WITH DR CHRIS BOEMO
14/02/2019

Back due to popular demand, GRV are pleased to announce that we are extending the Greyhound Injury Management Workshops to all tracks in Victoria.

With a focus on practical application, the workshops will assist participants in identifying, preventing and treating injuries or illnesses that can impact on a greyhound’s ability to get to the race track and successfully race. The workshops will begin by establishing a baseline healthy greyhound, before identifying both the physical and behavioural changes that can be indicative of an illness or injury. Following this, some key principles of preventative health will be discussed. This will include topics such as the impact of feeding regimens, vaccinations, and exercise on the racing greyhound. The final topic will assist participants with the examination and treatment of their greyhounds, with a focus on areas such as bandaging techniques for soft tissue injury and fracture support, and exercise rehabilitation techniques and the overall management of injuries. Given the practical nature of the workshops, participants will be encouraged to bring their own greyhounds.

They are free of charge with lunch provided. Participants will be provided with some useful resources to take away. Numbers are limited to 15 people per workshop, and will be held at the following locations:

Sale - 10:00am Thursday 21 Feb
Traralgon - 10:00am Wednesday 27 Feb
Horsham - 4:30pm Thursday 7 March
Ballarat - 10:00am Friday 15 March

11/02/2019

Please note nominations for the 2019 Australian Cup 525m close on Tuesday 12th February 2019 at 9:00AM.

All greyhounds must be nominated for the Australian Cup Preliminaries being conducted on Saturday 16th February, whereby after the close of nominations on Tuesday 12th February, the GRV Chief Grader and a representative from the MGRA will then determine the top 56 greyhounds nominated.

Those selected in the top 56 will then bypass the Preliminaries and be nominated directly by GRV into the Australian Cup Heats on Saturday 23rd February, with the remaining required to qualify for the Australian Cup Heats based on their Preliminaries result.

ON-TRACK VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS
11/02/2019

Please note in response to feedback from participants, on Wednesday 13th February there will be a change to the automated email generated by FastTrack whenever a greyhound undergoes a veterinary examination by the on-track veterinarian on race day. The email will include more detail of the examination and be sent to both the Owner and the Trainer of the greyhound whenever a veterinary assessment incident is created in FastTrack. It will replicate most of the information listed on the Veterinary Examination Details Form that is provided to the handler, including confirmation of any injury, stand-down period or veterinary advice. The standard email will also clarify some rules and link to further education material that will continue to develop over time.
