Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Steven White, the trainer of Swift Rain, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Swift Rain raced on 2 December 2017. Mr White stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a left stopper injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr Kelvyn Greenough, the trainer of Jimmy Newob, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Jimmy Newob raced on 2 May 2018. Mr Greenough stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a stomach muscle injury.
Demand A Panda was slow to begin.
Oakvale Striker and Reckoning collided soon after the start. Charlie Mac, Oakvale Striker and Reckoning collided at the 300m mark. Zipping Chaser checked off Striker Vardy at the 250m mark. Charlie Mac and Oakvale Striker collided at the 250m mark. Reckoning and Jimmy Newob collided at the 200m mark. Charlie Mac, Oakvale Striker and Reckoning collided at the 150m mark, checking Oakvale Striker and Reckoning. Jimmy Newob crossed to the inside at the 100m mark, severely checking Zipping Chaser and Charlie Mac, which both fell as a result, and Striker Vardy which stumbled and lost ground.
Zipping Chaser was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained bruising to the right hip. A five-day stand down period was imposed.
Striker Vardy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right deltoid muscle. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.
Charlie Mac was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal fracture of the right wrist and was humanely euthanased.
