Redhot Money was quick to begin. My Rules was slow to begin.
Eight Old Mates turned his head outwards entering the home straight underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a abrasion to the right front foot. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Brad Sands regarding Eight Old Mates’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Eight Old Mates was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Sands pleaded guilty to the charge. Eight Old Mates must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Ignatius Rose - the winner of the event.
