Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Zanzeedoo.
Starbright Madie was quick to begin. Bluey Moran, Barkin' Bekim and Zanzeedoo were slow to begin. Barkin' Bekim and Zanzeedoo collided soon after the start, checking Barkin' Bekim. Bluey Moran checked off Zanzeedoo approaching the first turn. Starbright Madie and Zanzeedoo collided on the first turn, checking Starbright Madie. Silent Sandy and Nellie Shan collided approaching the home turn, checking Silent Sandy which stumbled. Zanzeedoo galloped on the heels of Silent Sandy on the home turn, checking Zanzeedoo, and causing Silent Sandy to fall. Barkin' Bekim raced wide approaching the home turn and tailed off as a result.
Silent Sandy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abdominal muscle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Barkin' Bekim was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right foreleg nail injury, a three day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Pieter Smoor, the trainer of the greyhound Barkin' Bekim. Stewards deemed the performance of Barkin' Bekim unsatisfactory approaching the home turn and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Barkin' Bekim must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
