Powerful Lomar was slow to begin. Speedy Ryder and African Rhino collided soon after the start, checking Speedy Ryder. Prince Cheviot, Holloway and Winterstein collided soon after the start, checking Holloway. Prince Cheviot and Winterstein collided approaching the first turn, checking Prince Cheviot. Speedy Ryder and Winterstein collided on the first turn, checking Winterstein. Powerful Lomar checked off African Rhino on the first turn. Harry's Entity checked off Solar Mocha on the first turn and collided with African Rhino, checking Harry's Entity and African Rhino. Prince Cheviot and Winterstein collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Holloway checked off African Rhino on the home turn. Prince Cheviot and Winterstein collided on the home turn and several times in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Garry Selkrig regarding the direction that the greyhound Speedy Ryder be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.
