Steward's Report

All persons attending today undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, checked in, observed social distance requirements and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 30.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.7 degrees.  The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy. 

Classic Moment was slow to begin.

Jean Crisp and Inga Leah collided on the first turn checking Inga Leah. Felonious Gru raced wide on the home turn and turned its head to the outside towards Natural Image, Felonious Gru collided with Natural Image, checking both greyhounds. Natural Image and Felonious Gru collided several times in the home straight.

Felonious Gru underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Garry George regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Felonious Gru was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr George pleaded guilty to the charge, Felonious Gru was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Natural Image - the winner of the event.
