Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Lektra Rhino.
Moth Rocks and Mepunga Web were quick to begin. Destroy We Said was slow to begin.
Mepunga Web faltered approaching the first turn and tailed off as a result. Lektra Rhino checked off the heels of Moth Rocks on the first turn and collided with Rothford. Lektra Rhino checked off Moth Rocks on the home turn.
Mepunga Web underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track and were satisfied it was satisfactory for racing.
Stewards spoke with handler, Ms Maddison O'Neil-Crozier after she entered the track near the winning post in an attempt to catch Mepunga Web. After hearing submissions from Ms Smith and going through the provisions of the GRV Track Rules and Exclusion Zone Procedures, Stewards reminded Ms Smith of her responsibilities to not enter the track at any time when either the lure is moving or during a race.
