Bourne Blue was slow to begin.
Bourbon Louie crossed to the rail soon after the start; checking Milly May and King Crow. Jack's Rose and Newtown Jet collided approaching the first turn; checking both greyhounds. Milly May checked off Bourbon Louie on the first turn; checking King Crow and Bourne Blue. Bourne Blue checked off Milly May on the home turn.
Newtown Jet underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have left hindleg calf muscle and laceration injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Straight Shooter – the winner of the event.
