Steward's Report
Alira Gem, Sadie Rose and Dundee Candy were quick to begin.
Cool Fresco, Phil's My Bro, Venus Light and Inga Brodie collided soon after the start checking Inga Brodie and severely checking Cool Fresco, Phil’s My Bro and Venus Light. Venus Light faltered soon after the start and lost ground. Alira Gem checked off Inga Brodie approaching the first turn. Cool Fresco galloped on Alira Gem on the first turn severely checking both greyhounds. Cool Fresco galloped on Alira Gem approaching the home turn severely checking both greyhounds. Venus Light and Alira Gem collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn severely checking both greyhounds. Cool Fresco turned its head outwards and visibly eased in the home straight.
Cool Fresco underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury and a left shoulder injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr G McLachlan regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Cool Fresco was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr McLachlan pleaded not guilty to the charge, Cool Fresco was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Venus Light underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound right hindleg and a right groin injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr T. Britton regarding the greyhound’s performance throughout the event. After hearing evidence from Mr Britton, viewing all available race footage, acting on their observations and considering the injury, Stewards took no action.
Alira Gem underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr N. Hunt regarding the greyhound’s performance throughout the event. After hearing evidence from Mr Hunt, viewing the available race footage and acting on their observations, Stewards took no further action.
