Steward's Report
Senor Senor – Late scratching 12:08 pm Stewards permission, non-penalty.
Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr M Gibbons who scratched Tiger's Crest from the event, which enabled its kennel mate Oh Suzie to obtain a start. Mr Gibbons stated he scratched Tiger's Crest on Wednesday, 13 January 2021 after the greyhound displayed lameness in the left front leg. Mr Gibbons' explanation was accepted.
A pre-race sample was taken from Oh Suzie.
Open Throttle went up with the lids at box rise, lost considerable ground, trailed the field throughout the event and tailed off. Oh Suzie and Barfoot Barry collided soon after the start. Vegas Rules, Thomeli Boy and Zipping Liz collided on the first turn, checking Thomeli Boy. Barefoot Barry and Oh Suzie collided approaching the home turn. Barefoot Barry checked off Vegas Rules in the home straight. Vegas Rules and Barefoot Barry collided approaching the winning post.
Open Throttle underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg monkey muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr D Hammerstein, the trainer of Open Throttle regarding its performance. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Open Throttle must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
