All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated building, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.

A sample was taken from Barooga Franky at the trainer’s kennel earlier today. 

The start of this event was delayed three minutes, due to holding for a Penrith harness race.

Milana Rose was slow to begin.

Nalaya Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race six, no apparent injury could be detected.

Stewards spoke to Mr C Heinrich, the representative of Nalaya Bale, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Nalaya Bale was charged with marring.  Mr Heinrich pleaded guilty to the charge, Nalaya Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Samples were taken from Bahati Bale and Shima Punga at the trainer’s kennel earlier today. 

Lala Ivory, Trending Zircon, Lala Kiwi, Super Mali and Neangar Boy collided soon after the start.  Shima Punga and Roxy Patron collided on the first turn.  Bahati Bale, Lala Ivory and Trending Zircon collided on the first turn.  Trending Zircon and Super Marli collided on the first turn.  Lala Kiwi, Lala Ivory and Trending Zircon collided approaching the home turn.  Trending Zircon and Super Mali collided on the home turn, checking Super Marli.

Aston Shintaro underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right foreleg monkey muscle injuries.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Aston Minerva underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have lateral left hind abrasions and right foreleg monkey muscle injuries.  A five day stand down period was imposed.

Aston Stella underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg monkey and right hindleg triangle muscle injuries.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Lights Action at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.

Stewards spoke to Mr K Lloyd, the handler of She's So Kind, regarding its performance in the home straight.  Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, She's So Kind must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Shima Classic underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.  

A sample was taken from Elanda Bale upon arrival at the course.

Aston Harlow was quick to begin.

Iylee Bale was slow to begin.

Iylee Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg thigh injuury.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Senor Senor – Late scratching 12:08 pm Stewards permission, non-penalty.

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr M Gibbons who scratched Tiger's Crest from the event, which enabled its kennel mate Oh Suzie to obtain a start.  Mr Gibbons stated he scratched Tiger's Crest on Wednesday, 13 January 2021 after the greyhound displayed lameness in the left front leg.  Mr Gibbons' explanation was accepted.

Open Throttle went up with the lids at box rise, lost considerable ground, trailed the field throughout the event and tailed off.  Oh Suzie and Barfoot Barry collided soon after the start.  Vegas Rules, Thomeli Boy and Zipping Liz collided on the first turn, checking Thomeli Boy.  Barefoot Barry and Oh Suzie collided approaching the home turn.  Barefoot Barry checked off Vegas Rules in the home straight.  Vegas Rules and Barefoot Barry collided approaching the winning post.

Open Throttle underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg monkey muscle injury.  A seven day stand down period was imposed.
