Steward's Report

Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance withGAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to andcontinue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6,followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks/covers that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Aston Chandra was quick to begin. Rothwell Prince was slow to begin.

Chop Scotch and Westar Misty collided approaching the first turn. Red Mahogany and Sherwood Bale collided approaching the first turn. Chop Scotch and Red Mahogany collided approaching the home turn. Rothwell Prince checked off Spearhead Joe entering the home straight. Sherwood Bale checked off Chop Scotch entering the home straight. Chop Scotch and Sherwood Bale collided in the home straight. Rothwell Prince visible eased and turned its head inwards towards Spearhead Joe in the home straight. Westar Misty and Spearhead Joe collided approaching the winning post. 

Rothwell Prince underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg triangle muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Brett Nye, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Rothwell Prince was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Nye pleaded guilty to the charge, Rothwell Prince must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

 A post-race sample was taken from Aston Chandra the winner of the Event.
