In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy this meeting was marked 'Hot Weather Affected'. At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 37.1 degrees and the kennel temperature was 21.4 degrees.

Hurricane Craig was a late scratching at 4.50pm on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards directed trainer Mrs. V. Sultana to  ensure Hurricane Craig have a veterinary follow up within 3 days as requested by the on track Veterinary Surgeon.

Take Home Sadie, Hurricane Brad, Hurricane Cindy and Lightfoot Lass were slow to begin.  Hurricane Brad and Hurricane Cindy collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Hurricane Brad raced wide on the first turn checking Hurricane Cindy.  Take Home Sadie, Poppy Yaala and Mother Monster collided on the first turn checking Poppy Yaala and Mother Monster.  Mother Monster and Wy Yung Floods collided on the home turn.  Lightfoot Lass was checked off Poppy Yaala in the home straight checking Poppy Yaala.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. V. Sultana the trainer of the greyhound Hurricane Cindy .  Stewards deemed the performance of Hurricane Cindy unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71 Stewards directed that Hurricane Cindy must perform a satisfactory trial all tracks before any future nomination will be accepted.

Saboteur was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration between the toes on the left front foot, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Following the event Stewards announced  'hold all tickets' after a magpie flew from the running rail during the event.  After viewing all available vision Stewards found no greyhound was disadvantaged and declared 'all clear'.

Prior to the running of this event, the outside temperature was recorded at 30.8 degrees. Due to the reduced temperature, Stewards dispensed of any additional race meeting requirements in accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Miss Taryn was vetted following the event and re-vetted following event 9, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right thigh, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards issued a warning to Ms. Y. Andrews the trainer of Miss Taryn regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the second turn.

A sample was taken from Mizuki, the winner of the event.

Dr. Flannigan was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right metatarsal and was humanely euthanased.

Silver Trident was slow to begin.  Reatily Shintaro and Allen Jake collided soon after the start.  Aston Upton and Silver Trident collided approaching the first turn.  Reatily Shintaro and Allen Jake collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Silver Trident and Aston Hinkley collided on the first turn.  Aston Upton eased on the first turn And raced wide.  Midnight Marzy, Silver Trident and Aston Hinkley collided approaching the second turn checking Silver Trident and Aston Hinkley.  Reatily Shintaro and Aston Hinkley collided on the home turn.

Aston Upton was vetted following the event and re-vetted following event 10, it was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Stewards spoke to Mr. E. Lieshout the trainer of the greyhound Aston Upton regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn.  Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Ashton Upton with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr. Lieshout pleaded guilty to the charge, Aston Upton was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR  69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Aston Lola was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a split pad on the right front foot and a torn nail on the left front foot, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Mrs. K. Fogarty the trainer of Tiger Jams declared a new weight of 23.1kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Tiger Jams last raced at 22.0kg.

This race was delayed by approximately 2 1/2 minutes due to holding for Melton harness.

Mt. View Gift and Hello Mr. Duck were slow to begin.  Shrek's Capri was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Mt. View Gift and Hello Mr. Duck collided soon after the start.  Pie Problem, Tiger Jams, Sheza Dragon and It's Her Fate collided approaching the first turn checking Tiger Jams and severely checking Sheza Dragon.  Tiger Jams was checked off It's Her Fate approaching the first turn.  Mt. View Gift and Sheza Dragon collided several times from approaching the first turn turn to the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Evie Louise and Pie Problem collided entering the home straight and again approaching the winning post.

Another Shiner, Sidevalve and Ends Well were slow to begin.  Sublime Sull and Dr. Kestrel collided on the first turn checking Sublime Sull which lost ground.  Dr. Poppel and Dr. Walter collided on the first turn.  Dr. Poppel and Ends Well collided approaching the second turn checking Ends Well.  Dr. Poppel clipped the heels of Sidevalve on the second turn.  Phil's In Luck and Dr. Walter collided entering the home straight.

Sublime Sull was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained right pencil muscle, right deltoid muscle and neck, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Blucifer was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Five Lights and Rosacky Blitz collided soon after the start checking Five Lights.  Dargo Dasher, Rosacky Blitz and Yaala collided on the first turn checking Dargo Dasher and Yaala.  Five Lights and Richo Richo Girl collided approaching the home turn.  Yaala and Five Lights collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.  Dargo Dasher and Blucifer collided approaching the winning post.

The Club's Veterinary Surgeon examined Peter's Pride and no illness was detected.  The greyhound was a late scratching at 4.40pm due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer Mr. A. Farley was fined the sum of $100.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr. W.McMahon, the representative of Dr Marshmellow regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Dr. Marshmellow last raced on 08/06/17. Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Dr Marshmellow trialled over the 315m from box 1, weight 33.6kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of  4 starters. The time of the trial was 18.19 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 9 lengths. Dr. Marshmellow was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W.McMahon, the trainer of Surfonic Gold regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Surfonic Gold last raced on17/06/17. Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Surfonic Gold trialled over the 315m from box 3, weight 25.0kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.19 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 10.5 lengths. Surfonic Gold was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W..McMahon, the trainer of Fear The Boss regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Fear The Boss last raced on 27/0417. Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Fear The Boss trialled over the 315m from box 5, weight 33.9kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.19 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3.5 lengths. Fear The Boss was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. McMahon, the representative of Dr. Oliver regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Dr. Oliver last raced on 10/06/17. Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Dr. Oliver trialled over the 315m from box 8, weight 35.3kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.19 secs, the greyhound won by  a margin of 3.5 lengths. Dr. Oliver was cleared.

Satisfactory trial results:-

Supa Shalala trialled over the 315 metres from box 3, weight 28.3kg, the greyhound was placed fifth in a field of 6.  The time of the trial was 18.46 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 12.75 lengths.  Supa Shalala was not cleared.

Pawfection  trialled over the 315 metres from box 1, weight 26.2kg , the greyhound was placed sixth in a field of 6.  The time of the trial was 18.46 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 13.5 lengths.  Pawfection was cleared.

Shevchenko trialled over the 315 metres from box 5, weight 32.2kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of 6.  The time of the trial was 18.46 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.25 lengths.  Shevchenko was cleared.
