Rapid Tide, Heather's Nelson and Out Of Ink were slow to begin. Out Of Ink checked off Matang soon after the start. Black Physique and Matang collided approaching the first turn. Matang galloped on the heels of Defence Chief approaching the first turn. Defence Chief and Charming Louise collided on the first turn. Charming Louise and Matang collided on the first turn checking Matang and Out Of Ink, Out Of Ink raced wide as a result. Defence Chief and Arnie's Star collided approaching the second turn. Rapid Tide checked off Heather's Nelson on the second turn and fell as a result. Matang galloped on the heels of Charming Louise on the third turn, severely checking both greyhounds.
