Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Untapped on 25 October. An out of competition sample was taken from Gypsy Wyong, Mr Speaker, Gypsy Urana, Mepunga Warrior, Bobby The Brute and Graclyn Bale on 26 October. An out of competition sample was taken from Mirror Illusion on 27 October. An out of competition sample was taken from Knicks Bale and Bounce Back on 28 October, pursuant to GAR 79A.
Gypsy Wyong was quick to begin. Mirror Illusion, Gypsy Urana, Mepunga Warrior, Bounce Back and Bobby The Brute collided soon after the start checking Gypsy Urana, Mepunga Warrior, Bounce Back and Bobby The Brute. Gypsy Urana contacted the running rail on the first turn and lost ground. Mr. Speaker checked off Mirror Illusion on the first turn checking Bobby The Brute. Gypsy Urana and Mepunga Warrior collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds. Mepunga Warrior checked off Bounce Back on the third turn.
Mr. Speaker was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr J. Formosa regarding the greyhound's racing mannersapproaching the winning post. After hearing evidence fromMr Formosa, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued.
Mirror Illusion was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right calf and right hamstrings, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race blood and urine sample was taken from Knicks Bale, the winner of the event. Post-race urine samples were taken from Mepunga Warrior (2nd) and Gypsy Wyong (3rd).
