Steward's Report
Coconino and Ice Star were quick to begin. Star Of Jasmine and Blackpool Coco were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.
Quinto Bale checked off Chopper Bale soon after the start, checking Blackpool Coco. Chopper Bale checked off Coconino approaching the first turn. Rower's Rule checked off Frothy's Friday on the first turn. Ice Star and Quinto Bale collided approaching the home turn. Frothy's Friday checked off Chopper Bale approaching the home turn. Frothy's Friday and Blackpool Coco collided on the home turn. Chopper Bale faltered in the home straight and pulled up.
Blackpool Coco underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainer's request - no apparent injury was reported.
Chopper Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have severe cramping and also a suspected gastric dilation. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp) Chopper Bale must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Ice Star - the winner of the event.
Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry in relation to an incident involving licenced trainer Mr M Delbridge following the running of this event. This matter will be referred to the GRIU.
