Steward's Report
Mr Kurt Burger-Trudgett requested an early race endorsement for Knock An Scratch. The Stewards approved the request after an examination prior to racing by the on-track veterinarian. Knock And Scratch will compete in early races until further notice.
A pre-race sample was taken from Knock An Scratch.
Tinker Calie was quick to begin. Calthorpe went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.
Cawbourne Cheeky and Knock An Scratch collided soon after the start. Patricia Mary and Knock An Scratch collided approaching the first turn. Calthorpe faltered on the first turn, raced wide and lost ground. Cawbourne Cheeky and Knock An Scratch collided approaching the home turn. Patricia Mary checked off Cawbourne Cheeky on the home turn.
Calthorpe underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 12. Calthorpe was was found to have an injury to the left monkey muscle and cervico thoratic muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. A follow up veterinary certificate must be supplied to Stewards within three days.
Stewards spoke to Mr K Gavin , the trainer of Calthorpe regarding the greyhounds performance on the first turn. In accordance with GAR 75 (1), the Stewards requested Mr K Gavin to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Calthorpe in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
Supplementary Report 27.01.2021:
Trainer Mr K Gavin reported to Stewards that his greyhound Calthorpe has presented further injuries upon examination. The greyhound will be taken to a veterinarian today 27.1.21 for a further diagnostic examination.
