Steward's Report
Floppy Roo - Trainer Mr C. Baker applied to the Stewards to withdraw Floppy Roo from this event as he had a vehicle breakdown. As Stewards were satisified with the reason provided by Mr Baker his application was approved pursuant to GAR 23 (2). Mr Baker was advised that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours. The matter will be re–evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.
Nana Rose was slow to begin.
Zambora Club and Stolen Jewels collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Patchie Two Dots, Know Success, Stolen Jewels and Send It Socks collided on the first turn checking Stolen Jewels and severely checking Send It Socks and Zambora Club. Know Success, Patchie Two Dots and Nana Rose collided approaching the home turn checking Patchie Two Dots and Nana Rose.
Send It Socks and Nana Rose collided after the winning post, causing Nana Rose to fall; Nana Rose collapsed on two occassions shortly after.
Stewards spoke to Mr Charles Farrugia (via telephone), the Trainer of Nana Rose after he left the course today without Stewards permission and without having the greyhound thoroughly examined following the event. Stewards issued Mr. Farrugia with a warning pursuant to GAR 42 (2). Acting in accordance with GAR 74 Nana Rose must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 72 and receive a veterinary clearance before any future nomination will be accepted.
Patchie Two Dots - Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right metatarsal fracture. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Cawbourne Toe - the winner of the event.
