Trainer Mr. I. Dann the trainer of Virage De Kahn declared a new weight of 32.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Virage De Kahn last raced at 30.8kg.
The outside temperature at race start time was 30. degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 19.5 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Cilla Gem.
Virage De Kahn was slow to begin. Kilpatrick, She Got Fire and Miss Tatts collided soon after the start checking She Got Fire and Miss Tatts. Kilpatrick was checked off Cilla Gem approaching the first turn. Miss Tatts and Virage De Kahn collided approaching the first turn. She Got Fire and Miss Tatts collided approaching the first turn. Kilpatrick clipped the heels of Cilla Gem on the first turn checking Cilla Gem, Krystal Parade and Virage De Kahn, Kilpatrick fell as a result. Miss Tatts and Krystal Parade collided approaching the home turn. She Got Fire was checked off Miss Tatts approaching the home turn. Miss Tatts was checked off Krystal Parade on the home turn. Stewards spoke to Mr I. Dann, the trainer of Virage De Kahn regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Stewards were of the opinion that the actions of Virage De Kahn were a result of Kilpatrick falling and as such, on this occasion, issued a warning to the greyhound.
