Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Richards, the trainer of Staunch As, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Staunch As last raced on 15th of November 2017. Mr Richards stated that the greyhound was returning to racing from a back muscle injury.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Go Ee Kay; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which was unplaced in the event.
Cairnlea Rosie was quick to begin. Daisy Me Rollin' and Pretty Sensation were slow to begin.
Daisy Me Rollin' and Diego Fernando collided soon after the start. Go Ee Kay checked off the heels of Diego Fernando on the first turn and collided with Staunch As. Dashing Dyson and Quavo collided on the first turn. Go Ee Kay and Staunch As collided on the first turn. Daisy Me Rollin' galloped on the heels of Go Ee Kay on the first turn. Pretty Sensation galloped on the heels of Staunch As on the first turn. Daisy Me Rollin' and Staunch As collided on the second turn. Staunch As stumbled and lost ground on the third turn. Daisy Me Rollin' checked off the heels of Quavo on the third turn. Diego Fernando checked off the heels of Cairnlea Rosie approaching the home turn. Cairnlea Rosie and Dashing Dyson collided on the home turn.
Staunch As was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left pectoral (chest) muscle. A five-day stand down period was imposed.
