Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Richards, the trainer of Staunch As, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Staunch As last raced on 15th of November 2017. Mr Richards stated that the greyhound was returning to racing from a back muscle injury.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Go Ee Kay; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which was unplaced in the event.
