A pre-race sample was taken from Pius Thicknesse.
In The Shadows and You're Welcome were slow to begin. Axel's A Rebel went up with the lids and was slow to begin.
Kosmos World and Miss Payne collided soon after the start checking Miss Payne. In The Shadows and Kosmos World collided approaching the home turn checking Kosmos World which raced wide as a result. Bluey Can Fly and Pius Thicknesse collided approaching the home turn checking Bluey Can Fly. Gypsy Kiowa checked off Bluey Can Fly on the home turn checking You're Welcome. Kosmos World raced wide on the home turn. In The Shadows checked off You're Welcome entering the home straight. In The Shadows and Gypsy Kiowa collided several times in the home straight.
Kosmos World was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left chest injury, abrasion to the left elbow, laceration and spike wound over the left & right hocks, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
