Stewards spoke to Mr G. Hansen, the representative of the greyhound hot Cruiser who declined a re-vet, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Hot Cruiser with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Hansen pleaded guilty to the charge, Hot Cruiser was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr R. Fisher, the trainer of Jack Snapper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Jack Snapper last raced on 13 September 2017. Mr Fisher stated that the greyhound was returning from a spell.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr. Denis Craven, the trainer of Bryden Dora, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Bryden Dora last raced on 20/7/17. Mr. Craven stated that the greyhound had been seasonal. Mr. Armstrong stated that the greyhound was returning following a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Fish Armo trialled over the 400m from box 5, weight 25.7kgs, the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.85, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5.75 lengths. Fish Armo was Cleared.

Supplementary Report – Geelong 16/2/18: Jai Willoughby and Haydn Wilkinson each pleaded guilty to a charge of negligence under GAR. 86(o) for failing to remove the greyhound Ben Roman from the kennel block at the conclusion of the race meeting. Mr. Willoughby and Mr. Wilkinson were each fined $100. In determining penalty Stewards took into account their forthright evidence and good records in relation to this rule, however were also mindful of the potential welfare implications for greyhounds left on course.
