Steward's Report
This meeting was declared hot weather affected. In accordance with the policy the kennel temperature was recorded at the start of kennelling (19 degrees). At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 30 degrees.
Stewards spoke to Mr B. Pursell the handler Saint David after the greyhound was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr Pursell was issued with a warning and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure.
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr P. Skerret after the greyhound Saint David was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr Skerret was reminded of his responsibilities and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.
A pre-race sample was taken from Rippin' Sam.
Dutch Legacy was quick to begin. Rippn' Sam was slow to begin.
Menzali, Rollin' With It and Miss Terindah collided soon after the start. Miss Terindah and Saint David collided soon after the start. Miss Terindah checked off Saint David approaching the first turn. Dutch Legacy and Menzali collided on the first turn. Miss Terindah checked off Saint David approaching the second turn. Rollin' With It checked off Menzali entering the back straight and collided with Saint David, which checked as result. Saint David raced wide in the back straight. Miss Terindah and Rollin' With It collided several times approaching the home turn.
Saint David which performed below market expectations was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr R. Britton regarding the greyhounds performance, Mr Britton stated that in his opinion Saint David has difficulty in mustering early pace and would be better suited over a longer journey.
Urine and blood samples was taken from Go Seek Fernando - winner of the event.
