She's Crackers and Merl's Angel were slow to begin and collided soon after the start, checking She's Crackers.
Anustar, Bushman's Idol, Tear Away Socks and Rig Fifty Five collided approaching the first turn. Merl's Angel and Cairnlea Kenny collided approaching the first turn, checking Cairnlea Kenny. Cairnlea Kenny clipped the heels of Merl's Angel on the first turn, stumbled and lost considerable ground.
