Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Schembri, the trainer of Joie Eclat regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Joie Eclat last raced on 28th September 2016 and is returning to race from a left fibula injury and a change of kennels. Mr. Schembri also declared a new weight of 25.5kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Joie Eclat last raced at 23.7kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Runnin' On Gas.
Joie Eclat was quick to begin. Kiyoshi was slow to begin. Big Burkey and Cash Ownley collided soon after the start checking Big Burkey. Kiyoshi and Loving Angels collided approaching the first turn checking Kiyoshi. Runnin' On Gas and Cash Ownley collided approaching the first turn checking Cash Ownley. Runnin' On Gas and Loving Angels collided on the first turn severely checking Runnin' On Gas; Runnin' On Gas checked Big Burkey and Cash Ownley as a result. Runnin' On Gas and Kiyoshi raced wide on the home turn.
Runnin' On Gas was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left front dislocated toe. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
