Steward's Report
Pure Zest and Spring Bomber collided soon after the start. Kalani Klare, Exs And Ohs and Dr. Flannigan collided approaching the first turn. Hit The Runway, Kalani Klare, Exs And Ohs and Spring Bomber collided in the back straight checking Hit The Runway, Exs And Ohs and Kalani Klare. Pure Zest checked off Shanakee approaching the home turn. Hit The Runway and Pure Zest collided on the home turn. Blue Murray and Dr. Flannigan collided in the home straight causing Dr. Flannigan to fall approaching the winning post.
Dr. Flannigan was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to both shoulder muscles, and soreness to the the both neck muscles, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Shanakee, the winner of the event.
Subsequent to the event, Stewards spoke to Attendant, Mr K. Richards, Handler of Shanakee, regarding the manner in which he loaded the greyhound into the boxes, consequently delaying loading of greyhound Bue Murray. Stewards reminded Mr Richards of the need to load the greyhound quicker in future.
