Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Dr. Oliver.
Dr. Oliver and Jett Zafonic collided soon after the start. Jett Zafonic and Walk Woody Walk collided soon after the start. Dr. Oliver was checked off Fawn Mantra approaching the first turn. Fawn Mantra and Paua Hiking collided several times from the first turn to the second turn checking Fawn Mantra. Paua Hiking was checked off Dr. Oliver in the back straight. Fawn Mantra and Jett Zafonic collided on the home turn. Jett Zafonic failed to pursue the lure in the home straight and collided with Fawn Mantra.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. J. McMahon the trainer of the greyhound Jett Zafonic regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Jett Zafonic was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left hock, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) the Stewards charged Jett Zafonic with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mrs. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge, Jett Zafonic was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
