Steward's Report
Purple Butterfly was slow to begin. Valoroso was very slow to begin (3 lengths). Smoke Or Fire and Mahlo Hero collided approaching the first turn. Petite Fleur and Eureka Osti collided on the first turn. Petite Fleur, Eureka Osti, Smoke Or Fire and Mahlo Hero collided on the first turn checking Petite Fleur, Smoke Or Fire and Eureka Osti. Mahlo Hero eased in the home straight checking Gundy's Gift, Eureka Osti and Mahlo Hero. Petite Fleur and Purple Butterfly raced wide in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Vassallo, the trainer of the greyhound Mahlo Hero regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Mahlo Hero was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right thigh and a lesion in its mouth. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Mahlo Hero with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Vassallo pleaded guilty to the charge. Mahlo Hero was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
