A pre-race sample was taken from Lady Grey. Explosive Milne was slow out. Regal Pinari and Black Miranda collided soon after the start. Metric Waves, Black Mountain and Chyna Run collided soon after the start checking all three greyhounds. Black Miranda crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Regal Pinari. Lady Grey raced wide approaching the home turn checking Chyna Run. Regal Pinari and Lady Grey collided entering the home straight.
