Trainer Mrs.T.Jones explained to the stewards that she had previously trialed the greyhound at Cranbourne over the 699 metres and she was of the opinion that the greyhound was fit enough to compete in tonights event.Stewards noted her explanation.

Merri Legs checked off the heels of Cruisin Angel approaching the first turn. Blazing Corona and Foxy Flex collided approaching the first turn. The start of the event was delayed by approximately 4 minutes due to a problem with the photo finish computer. The photo finish equipment then failed to capture an image for this event. Hammer Ball was very slow out. Bayview Assassin and Ping Pong gypsy colided soon after the start. Bright Fronter crosed to the rail soon after the start checking Silver Cruiser, Endeavours Quest and Kip Juan Alert, Endeavours Quest lost ground as a result. Millstreet Dermy and Rodney Dragstar was slow out. Flashy Puzzle and Sally Court collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn. Rodney dragstar raced wide on the first turn. Millstreet Dermy clipped the heels of Newcastle Man on the second turn. Newcastle Man checked off the heels of Sally Court collided on the third turn and again approaching the home turn. Millstreet Dermy and Jiggy With It collided on the home turn. Stewards spoke to Mr.A.Brown handler of Flashy Puzzle after he placed the greyhound in the starting boxes without it's muzzle. Mr.A.Brown stated that he was unaware that the muzzle had been disloged before he boxed the greyhound. Stewards noted his explanation and reminded Mr.Brown of his responsibilities when boxing a greyhound.
