Jolly Beggerman was slow to begin. Lilypad and Elfie collided soon after the start . Lilypad, Elfie and Mum's Soul approaching the first turn. Elfie, Mum's Soul and Lilypad collided on the first turn, checking City Rambler and Jolly Beggerman; Jolly Beggerman raced wide. Elfie and City Rambler collided on the third turn. Xavier Kelton checked off Tell Me Ma entering the home straight. 

A sample was taken from Shawshank, the winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to Mr O. Fraser, the handler of the greyhound Shawshank in this event, regarding his over exuberant cheering behind the starting boxes as the greyhounds approached the home turn. Stewards reminded Mr Fraser of his responsibilities and advised him to be more mindful in similar situations in the future.
