Jolly Beggarman was slow to begin. Miss Lilah was very slow to begin (4 lengths). Miss Lilah and Jolly Beggarman collided soon after the start, checking Miss Lilah. Miss Lilah faltered approaching the first turn and pulled up as a result. Santa's Hope and Extra Cuddles collided approaching the first turn. Lilypad and Elfie collided approaching the first turn. Santa's Hope, Extra Cuddles and Sir Pendelbury collided on the first turn, checking Extra Cuddles. Lilypad and Elfie collided on the first turn. Sir Pendelbury and Elfie collided approaching the second turn, checking Elfie. Elfie galloped on Lilypad entering the back straight. Extra Cuddles checked off Santa's Hope on the third turn. City Rambler and Elfie collided on the home turn. Santa's Hope checked off Extra Cuddles on the home turn and lost ground. Elfie checked off Sir Pendelbury entering the home straight. Miss Lilah was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left fore toe injury; a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Santa's Hope was vetted and re-vetted following the event 4. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right calf graze; a 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Cortese, the trainer of the greyhound Santa's Hope. Stewards deemed the performance of Santa's Hope unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Santa's Hope must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
