Aston Javier and Colour Violet were slow to begin.
Hillbilly Nova (marred Fascinate Blaze in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury .Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Michael Hendy regarding Hillbilly Nova’s racing manners in the home straight . Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Hillbilly Nova was charged with marring. Mr. Hendy pleaded guilty to the charge. Hillbilly Nova was suspended for 28 days at Bendigo only and must perform a satisfactorytTrial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Sartana – the winner of the event.
