Stewards spoke to Mrs. T. Jones, the representative of the greyhound Little Odessa regarding the greyhound's improved performance in this event.  Mrs Jones advised stewards that the greyhound had recently recovered from an infection.  She also stated that the greyhound prefers to be drawn in a wide box and had received an interference free run tonight.  Stewards accepted Mrs Jones submission and a sample was taken from the greyhound.

Jemima Allen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Black Amazon was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to it's right triangle muscle and minor grazes to it's right hind and right fore legs.  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Abit Cooler and Yabba Dabba Dee were slow to begin.  Carr's Collide and Clumsy Tank collided soon after the start.  Jay's Spirit and McBride collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Clumsy Tank checked off Jay's Spirit on the first turn.  Carr's Collide and Abit Cooler collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Nikita's Storm and Yabba Dabba Dee collided on the first turn.  Nikita's Storm checked off Dewana Savanna approaching the second turn.  Jay's Spirit and McBride collided on the third turn.  Abit Cooler clipped the heels of Clumsy Tank on the third turn checking Clumsy Tank and Dewana Savanna and severely checking Carr's Collide and Abit Cooler; Abit Cooler fell as a result.  Clumsy Tank, Dewana Savanna and Yabba Dabba Dee collided approaching the home turn checking all three greyhounds.  McBride eased in the home straight and severely checked Jay's Spirit as a result.

McBride was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 4, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Acting under GAR 69(1)(b) stewards charged McBride with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Cranbourne and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Abit Cooler was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Where's Darryl was slow to begin.  Victa Bale and Birthday Bonus collided soon after the start.  Xenar Bale and Georgie's Colour collided approaching the first turn checking Georgie's Colour.  Xenar Bale, Victa Bale and Birthday Bonus collided on the first turn checking all three greyhounds.  Zontea and Where's Darryl collided on the first turn.  Silly Sara checked off Hurricane Isaac approaching the second turn.  Xenar Bale and Victa Bale collided on the second turn checking Xenar Bale.  Xenar Bale, Victa Bale and Birthday Bonus collided entering the back straight checking Xenar Bale and Birthday Bonus.  Georgie's Colour checked off Victa Bale on the third turn.

Rusty Mahogany was a late scratching at 10:56am due to illness (GAR 37). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance, before any future nomination will be accepted.
