A sample was taken from Lyrical Dad upon arrival at the course.
Zambora Jade was slow to begin.
Menari Hugh, Lyrical Dad and Tahnee's Flash collided soon after the start. Menari Hugh and Lyrical Dad collided approaching the first turn. Solar Rock and Starlight Millie collided approaching the home turn. Tahnee's Flash failed to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the home turn and collided with Cornish Lad. Tahnee's Flash, Cornish Lad, Solar Rock and Starlight Millie collided approaching the home turn; severely checking Cornish Lad, Solar Rock and Starlight Millie. Lyrical Dad, Tahnee's Flash and Solar Rock collided approaching the home turn, checking Tahnee's Flash, Solar Rock and Lyrical Dad, resulting in Lyrical Dad being unbalanced. Cornish Lad and Tahnee's Flash collided entering the home straight and again several times in the home straight.
Cornish Lad underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg monkey and left hindleg triangle injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Lyrical Dad underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer, Ms. Jordan McQuillen regarding the racing manners of Lyrical Dad approaching the home turn. After hearing evidence from Ms. McQuillen, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn.
Tahnee's Flash underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr Nathan McKay, the trainer of Tahnee's Flash regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Mr McKay declined the option to have the greyhound re vetted. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Tahnee's Flash was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr McKay pleaded guilty to the charge, Tahnee's Flash was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
