Steward's Report

Handlers Mr I. Green and Mr J. Wickham were issued with a warning pursuant to GAR 86(o) for negligently placing Riverdale Poppy and Fernando Mimma in the incorrect kennels during the kennelling process. Club staff were reminded of their responsibilities to correctly kennel greyhounds. This incident was reported to the Club Manager for further consideration.

Handler Ms J. McQuillen was issued a warning pursuant to GAR 86(o) in that she negligently presented Marshall Giblet to race wearing the incorrect rug. 

Marshall Giblet, Exit Sign and Fernando Flop were quick to begin. Riverdale Poppy was slow to begin.

Riverdale Poppy checked off Fernando Mimma soon after the start. Exit Sign and Fernando Flop collided soon after the start. Exit Sign checked off Fernando Flop approaching the first turn. Marshall Giblet and Fernando Mimma collided on the first turn, approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. Riverdale Poppy galloped on Easy Street on the home turn. Easy Street and Riverdale Poppy shifted out and raced wide on the home turn. Exit Sign visibly eased and turned its head inwards entering the home straight. Exit Sign visibly eased and turned its head outwards approaching the winning post.

Exit Sign underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. N Hunt regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Exit Sign was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Hunt pleaded guilty to the charge, Exit Sign was found guilty and suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
