Steward's Report
All Staff & Participants attending the race-meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the Kennel Block and Associated Buildings and when engaged in the exclusive race-day functions of handling, boxing, starting & catching greyhounds.
Coconino was quick to begin. Riverdale Bonnie was slow to begin.
Tiggerlong Jet and Rhapsody Queen collided on the first turn, checking Tiggerlong Jet, which collided with Spearhead Joe; Tiggerlong Jet was severely checked as a result. Riverdale Bonnie and Spearhead Joe collided approaching the home turn. Coconino and Rhapsody Queen collided on the home turn. Rhapsody Queen turned its head inwards on the home turn. Riverdale Bonnie, Coconino and Rhapsody Queen collided several times in the home straight. Rhapsody Queen turned its head inwards in the home straight.
Rhapsody Queen underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have minor abrasions, no stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr P Thomson regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Rhapsody Queen was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Thomson pleaded guilty to the charge, Rhapsody Queen was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
