A pre-race sample was taken from Well Built.
Golden Boy was slow to begin.
Montaya and Free Gift collided on the first turn. Inga Riley and Golden Boy collided approaching the home turn. Our Ryker, Ignite The Stars and Montaya collided approaching the home turn; checking Montaya; severely checking Ignite The Stars. Free Gift veered out approaching the home turn and marred Inga Riley.
Ignite The Stars underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left hindleg and right foreleg wrist injuries. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
Free Gift underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg shoulder muscle and left hindleg triangle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr N Lenehan, the trainer of Free Gift regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Free Gift was charged with marring. Mr Lenehan pleaded guilty to the charge, Free Gift was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
