Steward's Report
Tommy Shelby was slow to begin. Get Real, Charlie Bale and Surella Bale collided in the front straight checking Get Real and Charlie Bale. Get Real checked off Charlie Bale approaching the first turn. Surella Bale checked off Spring Hummer on the first turn. Kaison Bale and Javi collided on the first turn checking Javi. Surella Bale, Major Major and Tommy Shelby collided entering the back straight checking Surella Bale. Spring Hummer, Major Major and Tommy Shelby collided on the home turn, severely checking Tommy Shelby and Spring Hummer. Surella Bale and Kaison Bale collided on the home turn checking Surella Bale. Spring Hummer and Kaison Bale collided entering the home straight checking Spring Hummer. Get Real and Javi collided entering the home straight. Spring Hummer and Surella Bale collided in the home straight. Surella Bale turned its head inwards in the home straight and visibly eased. Get Real and Javi collided approaching the winning post checking both greyhounds.
Tommy Shelby was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Surella Bale was vetted following the event and was revetted following Race 7. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right calf and right hamstrings, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Representative, Mr J. Loverso regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Surella Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Loverso pleaded guilty to the charge, Surella Bale was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post race sample was taken from Major Major, the winner of the event.
