Blazing Strings was slow to begin. Bring Your Banjo and Mighty Matilda collided soon after the start checking Mighty Matilda. Cruisy's Special and Aston Genesis collided approaching the first turn. Thandie Bale and Blazing Strings collided approaching the home turn. Aston Genesis and Mighty Matilda collided approaching the home turn. Mighty Matilda, Blazing Strings and Thandie Bale collided approaching the home turn. Victoria's Kara and Bring Your Banjo collided approaching the home turn. Fortuna Bale was checked off Bring Your Banjo on the home turn causing Victoria's Kara to stumble, Fortuna Bale faltered and lost ground as a result. Cruisy's Special and Mighty Matilda collided in the home straight.
Fortuna Bale underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right triangle muscle, bruising on the right hind leg and a spike wound on the right calf. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
