Steward's Report
Jaxon's Express – Late scratching at 4.30pm on the 8 May 2019 when Mrs M. Brown reported the greyhound to have an injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
Split Pea and Bruce's Back were quick to begin.
Alfie Mikado, Split Pea and Bruce's Back collided on the first turn checking Alfie Mikado and Split Pea. Split Pea eased in the home straight and failed to pursue the lure with due commitment.
Split Pea underwent a post-race veterinary examination a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected. Mrs Haigh declined a re-vet.
Stewards spoke to Mrs C. Haigh, the trainer of Split Pea regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Split Pea was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Haigh pleaded guilty to the charge, Split Pea is suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Bruce's Back - winner of the event.
