A pre-race sample was taken from Small Rose.
Ohana Sparkles and John Bell were quick to begin. John Bell crossed in soon after the start checking Ohana Sparkles. Busta Mikado and Ohana Sparkles collided on the first turn. Jackson's Valley visibly eased and turned its head approaching the home turn checking John Bell and Small Rose. Busta Mikado and Ohana Sparkles collided approaching the home turn. Busta Mikado and John Bell collided on the home turn checking Busta Mikado, Ohana Sparkles and John Bell. Busta Mikado and Ohana Sparkles raced wide in the home straight.
Jackson's Valley underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right deltoid muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. E. Lieshout regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1) Jackson's Valley was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Lieshout pleaded guilty to the charge, Jackson's Valley must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
