This event was delayed by 1 min due to Pakenham Gallops running behind schedule.
Nella Bale and Shima Deal collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Bush Blossom and Sawan Sawan collided approaching the first turn checking Sawan Sawan. Nella Bale and Shima Deal collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Wallbanger checked off Swift Current on the third turn. Sawan Sawan and Peas And Carrots collided on the home turn and again in the home straight. Sawan Sawan visibly eased approaching the winning post and collided with Peas And Carrots.
Sawan Sawan underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right pencil injuries, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr A. Karabitsakos, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Sawan Sawan was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Karabitsakos pleaded not guilty to the charge, Sawan Sawan was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
