Steward's Report

Further enhancements have been made by Stewards around social distancing with COVID-19. In accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed the Starter to box the greyhounds in a single file boxing process, commencing with box 1, followed by 2, followed by 3, followed by 4, followed by 5, followed by 6, followed by 7, followed by 8. Essentially 1 through 8 in single file. All handlers will be 2m back from the handler in front. 

Shrek's Rose and Prince Archer were slow to begin.  Magic Voyage and Meat Murphy collided soon after the start. Steinmark, Barrabooka and Marshall's King collided on the first turn.  Shrek's Rose and Meat Murphy collided on the first turn checking Meat Murphy.  Steinmark visibly eased on the first turn and collided with Barrabooka.  Steinmark visibly eased approaching the home turn and subsequently pulled up.  Barrabooka and Prince Archer collided on the home turn.

Steinmark underwent a post race veterinary examination and after being re-examined following race 3, no apparent injury could be detected. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Curtain the trainer of Steinmark regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn and approaching the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Steinmark was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Curtain pleaded guilty to the charge, Steinmark was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted
