Queen Lita – Not raced for in excess of 3 months and is returning to racing from a right back muscle injury.

A pre-race Sample was taken from Dr. Davinci. 

Dr. Davinci was very slow to begin (4 lengths).

Blue Cigar checked off Muza's Magic approaching the first turn.  Muza's Magic and Queen Lita collided on the first turn severely checking Queen Lita which lost ground as a result.  Blue Cigar and Muza's Magic collided in the home straight.

Queen Lita underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

First Rule was quick to begin.

Our Ellie Rose, Pennine Way and Saw Blaze collided soon after the start.  No problem John and Inter Rose collided on the first turn checking No Problem John.  No Problem John and Conkacoin collided entering the home straight.

Pacific Tittle - Late scratching at 12:20pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr F. Bickerton was fined $100.

Trubelle and Dreamliner were quick to begin.

Why Woodleigh and Mr. Milan collided approaching the first turn.  Why Woodleigh checked off Mr. Milan on the first turn causing Yuken Win to gallop on Why Woodleigh severely checking Why Woodleigh.  Dreamliner checked off Mr. Milan on the home turn causing Dreamliner to collide with Victor Leone.  Akina Ivy and Dreamliner collided in the home straight.

Melally Boy – Not raced for in excess of 3 months and is returning to racing from a fractured left wrist.  A new declared weight of 30.6kgs was also declared, last raced at 32.3kgs

Emma's Not Happy – Not raced for in excess of 3 months and is returning to racing from an injury and seasonal spell. A new declared weight of 28.4kgs was also declared, last raced at 27.2kgs.

Akina Bear was very slow to begin (4 lengths).

Akina Bear raced wide on the first turn.  Melally Boy and Trois Femmes collided several times from the first turn to the home turn.  Kip Your Star crossed out, eased and collided with Emma's Not Happy checking Emma's Not Happy.  Melally Boy and Akina Bear collided entering the home straight.

Kip Your Star underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was also re-vetted following race 6. No apparent injury could be detected.

Stewards spoke to Mr S. Kipirtidis, the trainer of Kip Your Star regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Kip Your Star was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Kipirtidis pleaded guilty to the charge, Kip Your Star is suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Alfie Mikado and Meraki were slow to begin.

Go Lucy Go and Diamond Icon collided approaching the first turn. Delta's Tiara, Go Lucy Go, Diamond Icon and Alfie Mikado collided on the first turn causing Alfie Mikado to check off Diamond Icon.  Meraki checked off Go Lucy Go on the home turn causing Meraki to race wide. 

Cersei and Banjo Sally were quick to begin.

Jan's Star and Gone Early collided soon after the start.  Oni raced wide on the first turn and collided with Jan's Star.  Aremac Igor checked off Vladimir Rose approaching the home turn and stumbled as a result.  Oni and Gone Early raced wide in the home straight.

Akina Blitz was slow to begin.

Inter Helen and Owlette collided approaching the first turn.  Stylish Missile and Ruth's Girl collided on the first turn checking Stylish Missile checking Inter Helen and Akina Blitz.  Stylish Missile checked off Jaxon's Express approaching the home turn.  Jaxon's Express and Hashtag Spolly collided approaching the home turn.  Hashtag Spolly and Modern Jagger collided on the home turn.  Inter Helen checked off Jaxon's Express entering the home straight. 

A post-race sample was taken from Jaxon's Express - unplaced in the event.

Jaxon's Express underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right hind hock. No day stand down period was imposed.

Mr. Pendles and Tarika Tara were quick to begin.

Where's Lachie and Viewing collided approaching the first turn checking Viewing.  Where's Lachie checked off Silver Sky on the first turn.  Ebb, Silver Sky and Totolo collided on the first turn checking Silver Sky severely checking Ebb checking Where's Lachie as a result.  Ebb checked off Viewing on the home turn and collided with Silver Sky.

All In Handles was a late scratching at 12:17pm by order of stewards after the incorrect greyhound was presented at kenneling. Stewards spoke to Ms Fothergill regarding the matter. Ms Fothergill stated that the greyhounds were possibly placed back in the incorrect kennel at home. Ms Fothergill pleaded guilty to a charge of GAR 31(1), in that she failed to present the correct greyhound for its engagement today. Trainer Ms Fothergill was fined $250. 

Tim Tam Sam was slow to begin.

Aston Ronaldo and Ado Carr collided soon after the start.  Tim Tam Sam, Aston Ronaldo and Is All collided on the first turn severely checking Aston Ronaldo and Is All.

Hurricane Craig was quick to begin.

Jonathan's Rose and Gin Lee's Joe collided soon after the start. Jonathan's Rose, Gin Lee's Joe, Hurricane Craig, She Ignites, Super Fay and Minutes collided approaching the first turn.  Minutes galloped on Hurricane Craig approaching the home turn checking Hurricane Craig and severely checking Minutes which stumbled as a result.  

Minutes underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hamstring injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

My Girl Chezza was quick to begin.

Titanium Boy, Rainbow Parade, Wolfie's Squeeze, Blonde Bella and Midnight Patrol collided soon after the start checking Titanium Boy and Rainbow Parade.  My Girl Chezza, Blonde Bella, Midnight Patrol, Spectator and Woodleigh Sal collided on the first turn checking all five greyhounds.

Meehan Phil - Late scratching at 12.22pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian due to an abrasion to the right hock. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr G. McMillan regarding the scratching of Our Bravo Rose which enabled his reserve greyhound Blue Alcatraz to be eligible to be drawn into this event.  Mr McMillian stated that he scratched Our Bravo Rose on the 15/4/2019 due to injury as the greyhound would not be fit to race today. Stewards noted the explanation.

Blue Alcatraz was slow to begin.

Inter Elesha, Middle Trucker and Rooey collided on the first turn.  Blue Alcatraz and Rooey collided in the home straight.

MEETING COMMENTS:

The following Greyhounds performed a Stewards Satisfactory Trial – The trail took place over 460mtrs with 2 required to trial. The winning time of trial was 25.70:             

Sure To Excite finished 1st, Sir Jay Jay finished 3rd.

Sure To Excite – Was stood down from racing at Sandown for failing to chase. Weighing 34.7kgs and beginning from box 1 winning by 4 1/4 lengths. Sure To Excite has been cleared to race at all tracks.

Sir Jay Jay – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory trial as the greyhound has not competed in an event for in excess of six months due to a dislocated front right toe. Weighing 36.6kgs and beginning from box 8 beaten by 6 lengths. Sir Jay Jay has been cleared to race at all tracks.
