Steward's Report
This meeting was declared Heat Affected in accordance with the GRV Heat Policy. Upon arrival on course the outside temperature was recorded as 27 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Polo Pete.
Prior to the running of this event the outside temperature was recorded as 30.6 degrees. The kennel temperature was recorded as 20.2 degrees.
Butter Chicken and Dyna Dom were slow to begin.
Poppy Yaala crossed in soon after the start checking Amanda Lee and Butter Chicken, severely checking Dyna Dom and Kissem; Kissem fell as a result. Butter Chicken checked off Amanda Lee on the first turn. Butter Chicken and Poppy Yaala collided approaching the home turn.
Kissem was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a Cervico-thoracic injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Correy Grenfell, the representative of Dyna Dom regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing. Mr Grenfell was reminded of his responsibilities.
