Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected. The outside temperature when kennels opened at 10.39am was 27.0 degrees. The outside temperature when kennels closed at 11.52am was 27.8 degrees. The kennel temperature at close of kennels was 18.3 degrees.
The outside temperature at race start time was 27.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.7 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Hurricane Blake.
Hurricane Blake was slow to begin.
Acer and Hot Dot Two collided soon after the start. Yuken Win galloped on Lightfoot Lass soon after the start and again on the first turn, Lightfoot Lass lost ground as a result. Dewana Rocket raced wide entering the home straight.
Dewana Rocket was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound has a suspected dislocation of the right hock, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.
