Steward's Report
The outside temperature at race start time was 31.8 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.4 degrees, and the humidity was 51.4%.
Proven Regis was slow to begin. Aston Axel, Bring The Spring and Kraken Courage collided soon after the start. Banyuatis, Bring The Spring, Kraken Courage, Aston Axel and Kraken Maxi collided approaching the first turn severely checking Aston Axel and Banyuatis causing Kraken Courage and Mammoth to fall. Proven Regis and Kraken Maxi collided approaching the winning post.
Kraken Courage was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left medial stifle and minor laceration under the right eye, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Mammoth was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr Scott Melville regarding the direction that the greyhound Mammoth be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Jay Robinson the trainer of Bring The Spring in regards to the betting activity of Bring The Spring the greyhound opened at $26 and drifted out to $31 and was backed into $19 at race start time. Stewards accepted Mr Robinsons explanation and no further action was taken. A sample was taken from Bring The Spring - the winner of the event.
